چکیده

The c linica l significance of infundibular widening (junctional dilatation) of the origin of an intracranial artery has been a topic of debate; junc tional dilatation is considered preaneurysmal by some investigators and a normal variant by others. Aneurysm form ation or hemorrhage from an infundibulum rarely has been reported. A pati ent is reported in whom both aneu rysm development at the infundibulum and bleeding from thi s site are documented. This experi ence suggests the possible value of repeat de layed angiography when on ly junc ti onal dilatation is identified in the face of unexplained subarachnoid hemorrhage .

یافته های آنژیوگرافی در آنوریسم داخل جمجمه ای، بیمارستان امام، 79-1374

Background: This investigation was conducted in order to study angiographic findings in patients with cerebral aneurysm. Materials and Methods: The study conducted on 136 cases of ruptured cerebral aneurysms between 1995-2000 confirmed by means of 4-vessel cerebral angiography to get an insight to racial, geographic and environmental factors predisposing to the occurrence of subarachnoid hemorr...

Progress in treating ruptured infundibular dilatation at the origin of the intracranial posterior communicating artery.

Infundibular dilatation (ID) can occur at the origin of the intracranial posterior communicating artery. When this type of widening is less than 3 mm in diameter and the ID reaches the posterior communicating artery, it can be called posterior communicating artery infundibular dilatation (Pcom-ID). Currently, Pcom-ID is considered a normal anatomic variation, and the majority of Pcom-IDs are st...

Anatomical Variations of Circle of Willis in 57 Human Brains

Purpose: The circle of willis is responsible for blood supply of brain, which may suffer from anatomical variations. These disturbances can lead to aneurysm or even arterial rupture. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the anatomical structure of the cerebral arteries forming the circle of willis in adult cadavers. Also, cerebral versus non- cerebral versus non-cerebral arterial walls wer...

Angiographic diagnosis of small aneurysms of the posterior communicating artery.

Angiographic diagnosis of an aneurysm of the internal carotidposterior communicating arteries (ICA-PCoA) is usually straightforward [1 ], unless the aneurysm is small (< 5 mm) or the PCoA itself is not filled on carotid angiography. In the latter case, the aneurysm may be confused with an infundibulum. In 1964, Fox et al. [2 , 3] described five patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage, three of wh...

Progression of an arterial infundibulum to aneurysm: case report.

In this case an aneurysm of the right posterior communicating artery developed 11 months after an infundibular dilation of this artery had been angiographycally and surgically demonstrated. In the best of the authors' knowledge, there are only eleven such cases reported in the literature. This report brings about diagnostic and therapeutic questions regarding arterial infundibula and the need o...
